Trainees of the accepted research projects are invited to present online during the Preliminary Presentation Round on May 17, 2024. The top five projects will then be selected for the in-person Top Presentation Round, part of the main Scientific Meeting, at Cordis Hong Kong on May 18, 2024.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

by 15 April 2024, HKT1800

  • The trainee’s research project must be recommended by the Chief-of-Service or Training Director of each training center.
  • Each training center can submit a maximum of 2 projects from 2 different trainees.
  • The research project must be orthopaedics related.
  • The presenter must be a registered trainee under The Hong Kong College of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
  • The presenter should be the first author of the research project, and it should be an original project that has not been published yet.
  • Research abstracts should be submitted before HKT 1800 on 15 April 2024, using this URL: https://sm.hkcos.org.hk/upload/.
  • The presenter is required to register for the Scientific Meeting. Registration information can be found at https://sm.hkcos.org.hk.
  • in English and in paragraph format
  • in Word format
  • include the title of the project and the authors at the beginning
  • Limit project details not more than 300 words
  • Present project details in a structured format, including “Introduction/Background,” “Methods & Materials,” “Results,” “Discussion & Conclusions,” or in an unstructured format as deemed appropriate.
  • include the trainee’s full name and the abbreviated name of the training center in the file name (e.g., CHAN Tai Man AHNH)
  • Provide trainee’s name, email address, contact number, training center and the name of person who make the project recommendation at the end of the abstract

PRELIMINARY PRESENTATION ROUND

17 May 2024

  • It will be conducted online via a designated platform, starting from HKT 1400. Access link will be emailed to the trainees and training centres beforehand.
  • It is a training activity open to all registered trainees and fellows under The Hong Kong College of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Participation in the presentation will earn training points and Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits.
  • The schedule for the presentation of research projects will be provided to the trainees in advance.
  • Trainees are required to prepare their own PowerPoint files for their presentations. Each presentation will have a duration of 6 minutes, followed by a 3-minute discussion led by a panel of four local adjudicators.
  • The five best projects will be selected for the Top Presentation Round.

TOP PRESENTATION ROUND

18 May 2024

  • The trainees of the five best research projects will be invited to present their work in person during the Scientific Paper Presentation session at the Scientific Meeting on May 18, 2024, at Cordis Hong Kong.
  • The trainees should prepare their own PowerPoint files for the presentation.
  • Each presentation will have a duration of 9 minutes, followed by a 5-minute discussion led by the adjudicators. The panel of adjudicators will consist of honorary international speakers for the Scientific Meeting.
  • During the Scientific Meeting, we will award the Best Original Research by HKCOS Trainees to the top two research presentations.
